The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) is seeking a Disaster Management Officer – WASH to support the planning, coordination, and implementation of disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and developmental WASH initiatives. The post holder will ensure timely and effective WASH interventions during emergencies, as well as support long-term community development programs. The role involves close coordination with MRCS Chapters, government agencies, partners, and Red Cross Red Crescent Movement components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and monitor WASH programmes in disaster preparedness, response, and development.
- Support DREF, Emergency Appeals, and donor-funded WASH projects.
- Provide technical guidance and training to staff, volunteers, and partners.
- Coordinate with government, NGOs, community leaders, and RCRC components.
- Ensure adherence to MRCS policies, donor requirements, and humanitarian standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or technical background in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Public Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in WASH project implementation, water supply or sanitation system preferably in humanitarian, rural development, or emergency contexts.
- Experience in project implementation, community engagement, or program coordination.
- MRC volunteers are encouraged to apply.

- Strong technical, communication, and organizational skills.
Skills & Competencies:
- Capable in designing and managing emergency water treatment, distribution systems, and sanitation facilities.
- Able to design and facilitate community-based hygiene education and awareness initiatives.
- Proficient in conducting field assessments and technical audits to ensure the quality and safety of water and sanitation interventions.
- Competent to manage technical WASH supplies, including water testing kits and treatment chemicals.
