SHOULDER-TO-SHOULDER IN HELPING THE PAKISTAN FLASH FLOOD VICTIMS

As part of MKN Directive 20 – National Security Council, the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) is chosen to be part of the humanitarian aid mission in sending aid to the Pakistan flash floods victims. The mission left for Pakistan by C130 Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) from its base in Subang. MRC representative, Sivalingam Doraisamy, Manager of Supply and Logistic depart for Pakistan around 10am this morning together with other nineteen members of the mission. Together with the team, supplies consist of medicines, powder milk, bottle, women pads, blankets and tents. » read more »

Red Crescent Mobile Kitchen program has received tremendous positive feedback from the public verbally and via the MRCS social networking facebook of their good effort to helps the needy through the program. The latest venue at Pertama Kompleks Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman where the staff and volunteers distributed 1000 packs of food shows, most of the people who came to receive the free pack of food were from the low-income level such as general worker from the various industries within the area. » read more »

MALAYSIAN RED CRESCENT - PAKISTAN MONSOON FLASH FLOOD APPEAL

Malaysian Red Crescent has launched its appeal for the Pakistan Monsoon Floods victims on 6th August 2010 in response to the Preliminary Emergency Appeal by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to support 25 000 families who has been affected by the disaster. The appeal seeks CHF 17,008,050 (USD 16,333,000 or EUR 12,514,600 in cash to support the victims for a period of nine months. » read more »

MALAYSIAN RED CRESCENT HUMANITARIAN MISSION - NEVERENDING STORY OF GAZA

Nine members of the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) personal and volunteers arrived from Gaza after their two weeks humanitarian mission. The team led by the National Vice Chairman of MRC, Datuk Wira Dr. Bahari b. Datuk Abu Mansor. They were received by their family members and staff at the Arrival Hall, Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

MRC Charity Golf Tournament 2010 was held at the Tiara Golf Club Country Resort on 26 June 2010. This year’s event was encapsulating the definition of Stay, Play and Giving with the objective of having people from various communities of all races and socio-economic status to bring home valuable humanitarian knowledge.

It was a fun-filled day of golfing and followed by a memorable night where the golfers and donors were entertained by the MRC Ambassador, Ms. Soo Wincci, a former Malaysian beauty queen, model cum singer.

THE NATIONAL VOLUNTEER & YOUTH CAMP (SUKBEL) 2010

The National Volunteer & Youth Camp (SUKBEL) 2010 was held at the KEM TANGO, Tanjung Gosong, Pekan, Pahang recently. About 2, 000 participants who comprised of MRC volunteers, youth and foreign participants from Myanmar, Bangladesh, South Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong, Mongolia and beyond took part in this camp.

The camp was supported by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports and the International of Federation for Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) and International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC).

MALAYSIAN RED CRESCENT RAISES RM116, 000 FOR KAMPUNG ANGKAT PROGRAMME

The Malaysian Red Crescent raised RM116, 000 for community projects during its Mad Hatter Tea Party recently.

All proceeds from the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party go toward Malaysia Red Crescent Society’s Kampung Angkat Programme which trains villagers living in disaster prone areas in disaster and emergency preparedness. The aims of the three-day course is to:

• Advice and support communities and individuals that are at risk.

• Raise awareness of the plight of victims that experience disasters. » read more »
