PIONEER STUDENTS DIPLOMA IN PARAMEDIC SCIENCES

CYBERJAYA – 25th August 2008, a total of 20 as pioneer students from the Ambulance Medical Aide (AMA), Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) were selected to pursue their studies in Diploma Paramedic Sciences at Academy of Paramedical Sciences, Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS). These 20 AMAs will eventually be the first batch of highly trained health care professional MRC Paramedic in providing a dedicated, efficient, effective and compassionate professional quality care to the public of an international standard in the Emergency Medical Service System.

CUCMS through the Academy of Paramedical Sciences is the pioneer medical institution and the first in the country to conduct and award the Diploma in Paramedic Sciences programme. This much anticipated and long awaited programme has been approved by the Private Higher Education Management Sector, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, and the Ministry of Health. Accreditation with a major Australian Institution is also in progress.

The Diploma in Paramedic Sciences programme is a unique course, specially designed for persons with a commitment in seeking a very rewarding professional career development as an accredited internationally recognised Paramedic.

The Paramedic is one who is professionally highly trained, providing dedicated, efficient and compassionate pre-hospital care of the acutely ill and injured persons at the primary level.

The training is highly skills based, centred on problem based learning, best practice methods and community oriented. This will be accomplished with a focus on the needs of Malaysia with its multicultural environment and configuration of rural and urban communities. In addition, improving the quality of pre-hospital care, disaster management and providing excellent emergency medical service to the Malaysian public at the time of health crisis are given top priority.
