Texas Instruments Malaysia Sdn Bhd contributed RM3258.60 to the Malaysian Red Crescent to support the victims of the recent cyclone in Myanmar Cyclone Nargis and the earthquake in China. The Secretary General of the Malaysian Red Crescent, Maj. Gen Dato Hj Megat Mohd Yusof B Dato Hj Megat Mahmud received cheques from the Director of Texas Instruments Malaysia, Mr. Toots Marasigan, on 17th July 2008. Meanwhile, Maj. Gen Dato Hj Megat Mohd Yusof B Dato Hj Megat Mahmud, in thanking Texas Instruments Malaysia for its contribution said ‘The aid rendered by Texas Instruments and its employees would serve to support MRCS’ mission in the protection and preservation of life after the catastrophies. MRCS is already actively working with its counterparts in China and Myanmar to ensure that the aid reaches the victims. The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) had its beginnings in 1948, and was formally authorized by statute under the Malaysian Red Cross Society (Incorporation) Act, 1965. MRC is mandated by the Government of Malaysia to carry out humanitarian and relief activities, whether in peace or war times. As an auxiliary to the government, the body is committed to being in the frontlines to dispense aid, when ever or where ever distress may occur. MRC is a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and is therefore a beneficiary of the Federation’s vast network of resources efforts, and is duty-bound to channel such monies towards activities that will eventually benefit the public and those in need. |
