MRC Internship Programme
The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRC) welcomes students from institutions of higher learning such as universities or colleges, with suitable skills set and a keen interest in serving the community and humanitarian causes to apply for the society’s internship programme.
Internships provide opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in their respective field of study, and to determine if they have an interest in a particular career, to create a network of contacts, or gain school credit. This way a student gets work experience in his or her field of study. The gained experience will be helpful to finish up the last year of the study. Internships provide the employers with extra human resource for low-level tasks, and also the prospect of interns' returning to the company after completing their education and requiring little or no training.
Undergoing the internship programme with MRC will benefit students who are interested in a career in the humanitarian field as it will help to ‘open doors’ to better career prospects. Furthermore it may serve as a stepping stone towards achieving high success in their respective areas of interest with the existence of MRC’s affiliation with the IFRC and ICRC. MRC in turn, will benefit by having ‘skilled manpower’ and the infusion of young blood and new ideas for activities carried out. The society may also be an attractive place to build a career in humanitarian work.
