INTRODUCTION
CBDP/FA aims to develop the skills of the Red Cross/Red Crescent volunteers and the capacity of the branches, and to strengthen national societies in preparedness during normal times as well as for response in emergencies. It is also important that national societies are prepared to prevent and respond to epidemic outbreaks.

CBDP/FA  also aims to broaden the base of existing national society traditional first aid training and to complement by including aspects of community health ( such as prevention ,health promotion and control of common diseases ),disaster management (preparedness and response),and volunteers and their branch.

The intention is to have a comprehensive CBDP/FA programme tailored to suit priority needs of any community or target group by selecting relevant training modules and appropriate community actions can subsequently be developed. The engagement with the community goes beyond just training. Communities should be involved at every stage of CBDP/FA implementation according to their capacity, as well as on-going activities.
