Malaysian Red Crescent has launched its appeal for the Pakistan Monsoon Floods victims on 6th August 2010 in response to the Preliminary Emergency Appeal by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to support 25 000 families who has been affected by the disaster. The appeal seeks CHF 17,008,050 (USD 16,333,000 or EUR 12,514,600 in cash to support the victims for a period of nine months.

According to official sources, 1500 people fatal and the flood has destroyed much of the Pakistan’s health infrastructure. Thousand of people also have lost their homes, livelihoods and possessions due to the disaster.

International Red Cross aid workers are now working closely with Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) to take appropriate action in the event of an outbreak of water-borne disease. To date the PRCS has supported 5000 beneficiaries through emergency health services and has distributed 7,954 food packs, 1.054 non-food item packs, 868 tents and 375 packs of rice (2kg) each derived from their own stock. Judging through the current situation, MRCS appeals to the whole nation for a donation to help our brother and sisters in Pakistan.
